On our way for a solution!

The Perfect Assistant

This week started with more brainstorming exercises that we were required to do in class. One of them was to imagine the perfect assistant that would help our persona (family with a dog) understand their problematic behavior in everything related to their dog eating habits and help them figure out different ways to act. From this exercise, we realized that our solution must help bring the caregivers closer to their dog without food conditioning, that it must give confidence and knowledge to the caregivers and teach them to react with inhibition in all that involves food for their dog.

Copying From the Best

This week we were also asked to think about other apps/products (not necessarily related to our product) and draw from them the main principle that they fulfill and provide for humans: what we love about them, what is their main value that differentiates them from others...

These are the products we chose and the main principles for each one:

1. Spotify - personalized

Each user will receive a personal home solution. If the product knows I'm tired then it will just silence the dog without giving it food, if the product knows I want attention from the dog it will encourage the dog to come to me and take care of me.

2. iPhone - meaning

You feel luxurious, and part of something bigger. It makes me want to stay in the community and continue to expand to more Apple products.

A product that enables good collaboration between "members of the community" who also hold this product, should interface well between family members (like the headphones connect directly to the phone or files can be transferred via AirDrop). When the dog eats, whether it is snacks or whether it is a big meal, it is recorded by everyone. The product is aesthetic and beautiful and it will be a must-have design item in a modern home with dogs.

3. Tami 4 – a sense of security

A reliable device, which has very accessible and reliable customer service. You don’t have to worry about the quality of the water, the company makes sure to bring a filter every six months to preserve the quality of the water. All this gives a sense of security to their users in the most basic thing - water. In our product, we want to give that same sense of security. If I know my dog eats regularly and correctly, that I have control over his diet, know exactly how much he eats and when, and know that by using the product I won't miss feeding the dog, I will achieve that feeling.

4. Bit - certainty and simplicity

The product is always "nearby", in the right location, and does not require excessive effort. It is simple to operate and does not require me to use it for a long time. A durable product that is difficult to destroy, especially in a home with children and a dog. In our product, everything that is needed to feed the dog comes to the place where the owners are at that moment, and after the dog eats, everything will return to its place.

5. Google Docs - availability and cooperation

An example of a solution that we thought about after thinking about Google Docs is a doll, for example, that is remotely controlled by the owner and allows him to talk to the dog while he is not home or nearby. The product can be operated by any member of the household.

We then applied and adapted these principles (even by force if needed) in our future product. This required us to have great mental flexibility and above all developed imagination. It led us to new ideas that we hadn't thought of before and it surprised us a lot!

We feel that we are starting to have a clear direction regarding the solution, which excites us very much!
